ViewThe system
It stands in a class of its own.
Crimsafe's advanced Screw-Clamp system works seamlessly with its high-tensile Tensile Tuff Mesh to create a powerful barrier against intrusion. Instead of failing under pressure, the system is designed to absorb and disperse force. From Crimsafe Classic to the higher-strength Ultimate mesh, every screen is engineered to exceed Australian Standards.
Why Crimsafe?
Screw Clamp System
Crimsafe's advanced Screw-Clamp system works seamlessly with its high-tensile Tensile Tuff Mesh to create a powerful barrier against intrusion.
AS 5039 Compliant
Every compliant security product is manufactured and tested to Australian Standard 5039 and fitted with a compliance label. If it's not labelled, it's not a security screen.
3-Point Locking
Compliant security doors almost always use a 3-point lock that secures the door at the top, middle and bottom.
Custom Built
Every Crimsafe product is custom-manufactured locally at our Harlaxton workshop - a solution built specifically for your home, not a mass-produced import.
Classic & Ultimate
From Crimsafe Classic, five times stronger than the minimum required by Australian Standards, to the higher-strength Crimsafe Ultimate mesh with added corrosion resistance and a cleaner finish.

Family business
Four generations. One town. One standard.
A family of builders and painters in Toowoomba. When Wayne Althaus started Althaus Security Screens in 1993, he built it the same way they did: install only the best product, and install it to the highest standard.
In 1996, Crimsafe was looking for its first authorised manufacturer and installer in Toowoomba. Wayne was handpicked as that licensee, and has held the authorisation for 30 consecutive years. There has only ever been one authorised licensee in Toowoomba.

“Called Wayne to have a Crimsafe door installed. Excellent service from Wayne and Rodney who fitted the door. Door looks and feels solid, perfect fitment into the jamb and well finished. I regret not getting Althaus to do all our screens and doors when we built, absolute quality, worth every cent.”
Questions homeowners ask
Frequently asked questions about Crimsafe security screens
What is a security screen?01
A security screen is a specialised physical barrier to entry that allows airflow while keeping insects and intruders out. To be called a security screen, these products must pass strict testing to Australian Standard 5039 and be fitted with compliance labels.
Do security doors need 3-point locks?02
Yes, to comply with Australian Standards. Security doors must pass strict testing, and this almost always means being fitted with a 3-point lock that secures the door at the top, middle and bottom.
What is the best security door?03
The best security door is one that has passed testing to Australian Standards and is fitted with a compliance label. Be on the lookout for fakes. If it's not labelled, it's not a security screen.
What is a Compliance Label?04
The AS 5039 Compliance Label is an official label applied to a security door or screen that indicates it has been manufactured and tested in accordance with Australian Standard AS 5039. If your product is not installed with a Compliance Label, it's not compliant.
Does my security screen installer need to be licensed?05
In many states, security screen installers need to be licensed. Check the NSSA website for details on licensing in your state.
Can I fit my own security door?06
Compliant security screen doors are made and installed to very tight tolerances with specialised fixings. The NSSA always recommends installation by an NSSA Member. Don't DIY.
Why buy from a member of the National Security Screen Association?07
The NSSA provides education, training and accreditation to its members so they provide the best outcomes for consumers. NSSA members must meet compliance obligations and provide transparent product information to homeowners.
Are barrier doors the same as security doors?08
No. The term 'barrier door' is often used to describe a screen that won't pass the Australian Standard testing process. Ensure your security screen has an AS 5039 Compliance label.
Should I get security cameras or security screens?09
Security screens provide a physical barrier to entry. While cameras are good for monitoring what has happened, they cannot stop a break-in.
